American Legion Post 293

American Legion Shelbourne Parish Post 293 is a not-for-profit veteran service organization located in Purcellville, Virginia. Our post was chartered in 1954 and our doors have been opened since then. We are located in a historic building in downtown Purcellville that was previously the town’s Safeway grocery store. Our post consists of American Legion Post 293, Auxiliary Unit 293, Sons of the American Legion Squadron 293, and Legion Riders Chapter 293. Our post also serves as home to Marine Corps League Detachment 1205 “Loudoun Marines”. Post 293 is part of the 16th District of the Northern Region in the American Legion Department of Virginia.

Our mission is to support local veterans and the local community.  We serve the veterans community through a number of job and career programs and through the support of other veterans-focused organizations such as Boulder Crest Retreat, Hero Homes, and the Wounded Warrior Project. We are here to help veterans directly with their needs as well. We will work with any veteran in need to identify resources that can assist them, or even provide the camaraderie of brothers and sisters who understand their burdens and priorities.  We can also assist veterans in dealing with navigating the Veterans Administration. If you are a veteran in need, please reach out to us. And if you are a veteran in a position to help other veterans and the community at large, please contact us.
